Mumbai Indians have been knocked out of the IPL 2021 but they go out with a fantastic victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Chasing a massive total of 236, Jason Roy went after MI’s bowling, taking five fours in the first four overs with Abhishek Sharma also launching a six. Abhishek then timed three more boundaries off Nathan Coulter-Nile before Trent Boult got Roy.

Abhishek closed the powerplay with another boundary; SRH’s total at 70/1. This also meant that Mumbai Indians were knocked out of IPL 2021. Abhishek Sharma would fall soon after, holing in the deep off James Neesham.

Mohammad Nabi and Abdul Samad would also follow, caught at long-on, off Piyush Chawla and Neesham, respectively. Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg would then build a partnership with timely fours and sixes.

The partnership would grow with Pandey slamming Coulter-Nile for a six and four in the 15th over but then saw Garg fall to Jasprit Bumrah and then Holder to Coulter-Nile as the required rate went over 18. Bumrah would also account for Rashid Khan’s wicket, taking a return catch. Pandey would go on to register a fifty but his side had little to smile about on Friday.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Mumbai Indians got a blazing start from Ishan Kishan. The left-hander hit Mohammad Nabi for a first-ball six before carting Siddarth Kaul for four boundaries in a row.

In the third, Rohit hit his first four before Kishan struck two more. In the fourth, bowled by Holder, Sharma took one four and Kishan brought up MI’s fifty in just 3.4 overs with a maximum. Two more fours off Holder and Kishan brought up his own fifty off 16 balls!

The left-hander then went after Umran Malik, cracking another couple of boundaries. Rashid Khan, however, applied brakes on the scoring rate with the wicket of Rohit Sharma, who departed for 18. Mumbai reached 83/1 at the end of the powerplay with 63 coming off the bat of Kishan, who continued his assault smoking a six and a four to Malik.

He then went after SRH’s main guy, Rashid Khan, slogging him over mid-wicket bringing up MI’s hundred in the eighth over. Hardik, after hitting a six off Rashid, got out to Jason Holder. Malik would finally get his revenge on Kishan, who departed after scoring 84 runs off 32 balls.

Abhishek Sharma would dismiss Kieron Pollard and Neesham on consecutive deliveries to further dent Mumbai. Suryakumar Yadav got back to form with a flurry of fours and a couple of sixes. At the other end, Krunal Pandya was dismissed by Rashid.

Yadav, though, continued his superb strokeplay, raising hit fifty off 24 balls, and crossing MI over 200 in the 17th over. He further only displayed his range, hitting in all the directions in Abu Dhabi. Yadav would only get out in the last over, having scored 82 runs off 40 balls and helped MI to 235.
