Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Kedar Jadhav finally contributed to the team’s cause when it comes to making runs in his third match for his new franchise in the ongoing IPL 2021. Incidentally, this short yet effective innings came against his former franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner won the toss and chose to bat first in both team’s first match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The Sunrisers Hyderabad came into this match with just one win in five matches and lying on the 8th spot on the points table. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings were ranked no.2 on the points table and have been jostling for the no.1 spot with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Manish Pandey and Sandeep Sharma came into the SRH playing XI, while Chennai Super Kings included Moeen Ali and Lungi Ngidi into the XI.

The pitch proved to be too difficult for SRH batsmen to get easy runs on as ball held on to the surface. Jonny Bairstow fell for 7 runs, but David Warner played a painfully unrhythmic innings of 57 runs in 55 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes to his name. He tried his best to raise the tempo of his knock, but couldn’t.

Manish Pandey was promoted to no.3 and made 61 in 46 balls with 5 fours and 1 six to his name and added 106 runs with Warner. However, the SRH team looked destined to a total of 150-odd as they both were back in the dug out with score reading 134/3 in 18 overs.

But destiny had something else in mind as Kane Williamson and Kedar Jadhav added a quick 37 runs in 13 balls for the 4th wicket and took SRH to 171/3 in 20 overs. Kane Williamson made 26* in 10 balls with 4 fours and 1 six.

But the focus shifted to Kedar Jadhav in the last over, as he slammed Sam Curran for a four and a six on the last two balls of the 20th over and finished on 12* in 4 balls. This knock might have been a short one, but it was significant as it came against CSK, his ex-franchise, which released him before the IPL 2021 auction.
