IND vs NZ 2021: Twitter Reacts As India Take Unassailable 2-0 Lead Against New Zealand
Updated - 20 Nov 2021, 12:15 AM
The Indian team registered another bilateral T20I series win at home as they took an unassailable 2-0 lead against New Zealand after defeating them with utmost ease in the second T20I at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi.
Chasing a target of 154, the openers, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, once again set an excellent platform for the rest to follow. They put 117 runs for the first wicket in around 13 overs, before Rahul fell for a well-made 49-ball 65.
Rohit carried on and got to his fifty off 35 balls but was dismissed soon after by the only-wicket taker for New Zealand on the night, Tim Southee. Venkatesh Iyer was promoted up the order and he had a couple of streaky boundaries before Rishabh Pant once finished the job with two sixes in a row.
Earlier, Martin Guptill‘s 31-run knock took him past Virat Kohli and he became the highest run-scorer in T20I history. Guptill and Daryl Mitchell put up an excellent opening stand but the Indian bowlers pulled things back in the middle overs.
The top five chipped in with vital contributions for the Kiwis and they managed to put up 153/6. Debutant Harshal Patel was the pick of the bowlers on the night, taking two wickets for 25 runs in his four overs. The rest of the bowling attack chipped in with one wicket apiece and the score they restricted New Zealand to was scaled down quite easily by the batsmen.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to India’s series-winning game against New Zealand:
