Twitter Reacts as Rohit Sharma Rises to Second Place in ICC ODI Rankings

Rohit Sharma who led India to their seventh Asia Cup title on Friday has risen to the second spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batsmen. However, Rohit Sharma was the second highest scorer of the tournament with 317 runs. It has helped him to gain the second place, and he now sits behind Virat Kohli.
The Indian opener scored 317 runs from five innings which includes one century and two fifties with an outstanding average of 105.66. Shikhar Dhawan was the top scorer with 342 runs who jumped four spots to grab the fifth place.
Rohit Sharma led the team in absence of the regular skipper Virat Kohli. In fact, he led in five matches in the Asia Cup and won all the matches.
The flamboyant batsman played an outstanding inning with his partner Dhawan. Thus, he led India to win against the arch-rivals Pakistan by nine wickets. The duo made a record partnership of 210 runs against Pakistan for the first wicket. In addition to that, Rohit Sharma also holds the record of making three double centuries in ODIs.
Moreover, Sharma and Co. played some tremendous cricket in the Asia Cup 2018.
Kuldeep Yadav takes the third place.
Apart from the two batsmen, India’s chinaman Kuldeep Yadav also saw an increase in ODI Bowling Rankings. He became the joint-highest wicket-taker along with Bangladesh seamer Mustafizur Rahman and Afghanistan’s leggie Rashid Khan with 10 wickets each.
Meanwhile, Rashid Khan was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 10 wickets in five games. He also scored 87 runs and has climbed to the number one place on the all-rounder’s charts displacing Shakib Al Hasan. Therefore, he becomes the first Afghanistan cricketer to reach the top spot.
