The Indian Premier League on Monday launched the anthem for the 2018 edition. The next season will commence on 7th April with the defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings.

This is the first time the BCCI and Star India has collaborated to create an anthem for the campaign. This year puts spotlight on what the IPL stands for pitting the best in T20 cricket against each other.

They have named the anthem ‘Best vs Best’ which very well goes with the concept of the tournament.

However, the theme song of the tournament was slammed by the fans as the song is a copied version of a famous patriotic song ‘yeh desh hai veer jawano ka’ from the movie ‘Naya Daur’.

The artists who have assembled the song are South African film maker Dan Mace, music director Raajeev V. Bhalla and vocalist Siddhart Basrur, who sung the anthem in five different languages.

The fans have slammed the BCCI for copying the song. The previous theme songs produced by former broadcasters Sony were widely popular and were liked by the fans for its originality. However, this time it’s something the fans have already started missing.
