Team India???s fielding concerns were once again at the forefront when Ajinkya Rahane dropped Keaton Jennings in the slip cordon during the morning session of the first Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Meanwhile, England took the first session of the opening day with their steady display of batting. They went to lunch at 83 runs for the loss of one wicket in the form of Alastair Cook.

Experienced Cook, however, departed from an unplayable delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin, who came to the attack as first change.

It was an absolute peach of a delivery from ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in his first over itself. Tossed up beautifully, Cook came half-forward and tried to fend without accounting for the turn.

It bounces a bit to go past the bats and take the top of the off-stump. Since then, it was one-way traffic as Joe Root and Keaton Jennings looked flawless pouching on the loose deliveries.

However, India had another opportunity in the sixth over of the match when Rahane dropped Jennings at slip cordon.

Lanky pacer Ishant Sharma was bowling some tight line and length asking some serious questions to the England batters. It was a brilliant delivery from Ishant which pinned Jennings to the crease.

The ball curved across the batsman and got the edge. It was low and going to third slip who was Kohli, but Ajinkya Rahane dived across and shelled it. Moreover, he got both hands but failed to hang on to it.

India need???s to be wary about their poor fielding as they struggled when they last toured England in 2014.

Meanwhile, the miss didn???t go down well with the fans and they lashed out at Ajinkya Rahane for throwing away an opportunity.
