Two Indian Batter Feature As Mohammad Amir Picks His Three Current Favourite Batters And Bowlers

Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir has picked his three current favourite batters and bowlers going in World cricket. What caught the attention of many was he named two Indian stars as his best batters whereas no bowler from India has impressed him.

Mohammad Amir went on to pick Virat Kohli and Babar Azam as the two players that he likes most. He said that apart from T20s the two greats have impressed him in the ODIs and the longest format of the game. Notably, both of these are currently the leading batters in world cricket and have won matches for their respective teams.

Apart from Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, the Prince of Indian cricket Shubman Gill has impressed him. Mohammad Amir said that the young batter will be the future of Indian cricket. Speaking during a Q&A session on his YouTube channel, he said:

“Virat [Kohli], Babar is my favourite apart from T20s. He is my favourite in Tests and ODIs. Finally, Shubman Gill, as I feel he will be the next big thing for India in future if he maintain his current form.”

Apart from the three batters, Mohammad Amir picked two left-arm pacers in Trent Boult and Mitchell Marsh among his favourite pacers. He also picked Naseem Shah in his list. He explained:

“[Trent] Boult, he is number one for me, then Naseem Shah. These are bowlers, who I feel are complete bowlers and can play all formats. And third would be Mitchell Starc.”

“You can’t write them off in Asian conditions,” Mohammad Amir on Pakistan’s chances in the world cup

The ICC World Cup 2023 is likely to take place during the month of October-November in India. The schedule of the tournament is expected to be announced during an event in Mumbai next week. But as per the various reports, the tournament opener is slated to take place between England and New Zealand on 5th October at Ahmedabad. Whereas India and Pakistan will play at the same venue on 15th October.

Mohammad Amir feels that Pakistan will be among the top teams in World Cup as one cannot write them off in Asian conditions. He explained:

“Pakistan will be in the top four and you can’t write them off in Asian conditions.”

Mohammad Amir also went on to name Mickey Arthur as his favourite coach. The pacer has spent a lot of time with him.
