U19 Asia Cup 2018: Afghanistan vs India, Group A - Match Report

It seems like the future stars of India are walking on the right path. They have outclassed Afghanistan under 19 stars comfortably to seal the game by 51 runs in U19 Asia Cup 2018. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Siddarth Desai are the stars for India in the game with the bat and ball, respectively.

The win ensured India to maintain their 100% track record in the tournament so far. Meanwhile, they are also advanced to the next stage of the competition as well. India alongside Sri Lanka are the only teams to be unbeaten so far.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ayush knocked it for India:

Initially, it was India, who won the toss and asked the Afghanistan team to roll their arms first. Accepting the challenge, Afghanistan fast bowlers responded well by denting India with three quick wickets to make scorecard read 14/3.

However, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ayush Badoni added a crucial 80-run partnership to shoulder the team towards 200. Though both the batsmen left the crease at the crucial period, the late blitz from the tail-enders helped the Indian side to post 221 on the board.

Azmatullah and Qais Ahmed were the stars with the balls for Afghanistan, who rattled three wickets each. Meanwhile, Abid grabbed a couple.

In reply to the chase, the openers, Riaz and Rahmanullah started the things in a great way with both the batsman finding the fence more often than not. However, the wicket of the skipper Rahmanullah opened the gates for a great collapse.

The Indian bowlers rattled through the middle-order in a jiffy to put Afghanistan under pressure. Once the top-order batsman was back in the hut, it was just a matter of time for Team India to secure the victory.

Siddarth Desai finished with four wickets to his name for 37 runs while Harsh Tyagi bagged three wickets. However, it was a fine victory for the Indian team after the initial jolts in the batting department.
