2018 U19 World Cup: Why Prithvi Shaw donned jersey number 100?

India Under-19 team skipper Prithvi Shaw has set a remarkable example among the colts to become fourth overall skipper from India who lifted the fourth title respectively of the recently-concluded ICC Youth One-day International World Cup.
However, in 2002 under the leadership of Mohammad Kaif, India claimed the first-ever U19 World Cup trophy before Virat Kohli registered the title win in 2008; however, in 2012 Unmukt Chand-led India sealed the title victory.
On Saturday (February 3) India colts registered a glory by claiming a spectacular win over Australia Under-19 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui by eight wickets.
Shaw, who has all the shots in his book, was ecstatic when he lifted the coveted title while posing for the photographs that have simultaneously gone down the history books
“There a lot of memories created. I can’t express, what I am feeling right now. I am just happy,” Shaw was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
In the final, the right-handed 18-year-old batsman Shaw has smashed 29 runs in 41 balls. He smashed four boundaries as impressive young champions chased down the target of 217 in 38.5 overs.
In the 16-team tournament, Shaw has contributed for his team which further saw him donning the three-figure jersey which has been somewhat a sight in the gentleman’s game.
The World Cup-winning skipper Shaw has revealed an interesting story behind his national jersey.
“I like the number. In Hindi (sau) it sounds like my surname Shaw,” Shaw explained.
On the other side, many cricketers have had been seen talking about the superstitions while taking their career into consideration.
Moreover, the 18-year-old Shaw was further delighted for the emphatic victory against Jason Sangha-led Australian youth.
Shaw, who has been remarkable with the bat, is considered as the future prospect for the national side and he has been delivering according to the expectations.
Banking on the remarking performances, Indian rising stars were indomitable in the recently-concluded 12th edition of the Youth ODI World Cup.
Shaw hailed veteran Dravid for instilling the confidence among the young guns while aiming to follow his footsteps in the professional fold
“He [Dravid] is a legend but he created such an environment that we could talk to him like a friend,” Shaw added.
Interestingly, behind the scenes former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid has played a massive role to boost the morale of the youngsters who have had grabbed the headlines for the all-round show.
“He is such a simple man. The way he carries himself is remarkable. After the win, he told us to remain grounded,” Shaw maintained.
In the first-class fold, Shaw made his debut in January 2017 which further saw him scoring 961 runs at an average of 56.42. He smashed five hundreds and three fifties.
