A day after the ICC U19 World Cup came to end with Bangladesh upsetting India in the final to register a historic triumph, the ICC announced the Team of the Tournament. As many as three Indians made it to the team. Opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi and fast-bowler Kartik Tyagi made it to 12-member team.
The team is being led by Bangladesh skipper Akbar Ali who was the Man of the Match in the final. Yashasvi Jaiswal finished the competition as the highest run-scorer and claimed the Player of the Tournament award. He scored 400 runs in six innings at an astounding average of 133. The left-hander scored an unbeaten century in the semifinal against Pakistan before scoring 88 in the final.
He finished 114 runs ahead of closest competitor Ravindu Rasantha of Sri Lanka. On the other hand, Bishnoi topped the wicket-taking chart by claiming 17 in six matches with a miserly average of 10.64. The leg-spinner had nearly taken India over the line in final by taking four wickets in quick succession.

On the other hand, Tyagi terrorised opposition batsmen throughout the tournament with his swing and scalped 11 wickets at an average of 13.90. Apart from three Indians, the official team of the tournament features representatives from six sides.
Along with India, Bangladesh also have three names. In addition to captain Akbar, Shahdat Hossain and Mahmudul Hasan Joy have also made it to the team. Afghanistan and West Indies have two players each. Canada’s Akil Kumar has been included as the 12th man.
The team was selected by an adjudication panel of five, which included commentators Ian Bishop, Rohan Gavaskar and Natalie Germanos joined by ESPN Cricinfo correspondent Sreshth Shah and ICC representative Mary Godbeer.
