There have been a doubt-cloud created over the captaincy post of the Pakistan Cricket Team for the 2019 World Cup. Since Sarfraz Ahmed is suspended for making racist remarks during the South Africa ODIs, the question arises; who would lead the Men in Green in the mega event in England? Meanwhile, speaking to Cricbuzz, a PCB spokesperson said there is no guarantee of Sarfraz serving as the captain. As per the board’s policy, a captain would get appointed on a ‘series-to-series’ basis.

We never revealed the length of Sarfraz’s tenure – PCB spokesperson

With the 2019 World Cup a few months away from getting started, to pick a captain for a team will be the last thing any board would want. However, the worry is on the Pakistan Cricket Board now to decide. Though a final call will be made only after the PSL 2019 edition, to think a certain name for the post will be a mistake.

“We never revealed the length of Sarfraz Ahmed’s tenure,” he said. “We never said whether he was going to stay [as a captain] for one or two years. The PCB appoints captain on a series to series basis, and, as such, appointment for the series post PSL will be made in due course.” a PCB spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, it has come out as a shocking revelation; considering Ehsan Mani, the serving president of the board, had said since joining Sarfraz will be the captain until the 2019 World Cup. Now that a contrary word is out on the same; we have to wait till April end to see who will be Pakistan’s captain in England.

Sarfraz – the captain, is under pressure!

Since Asia Cup 2018, Sarfraz Ahmed has been under pressure. Even during the event, his captaincy tactics got questioned by many. Later at home, Pakistan lost the Tests to New Zealand before getting blanked in three Tests in South Africa. Though Pakistan, in the ODIs, is levelled at the moment; the credit cannot be given to Sarfraz completely, as it was Shoaib Malik, under who the team won the fourth ODI.
