Under-23 Selector Ashish Sinha Named in Bihar Squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy

Bihar cricket players have made a comeback after eight years and they had a controversy with the state body picking U-23 selector, Ashish in the senior squad of Vijay Hazare Trophy

Bihar cricket made a comeback after eight years, and it’s yet by controversy with the state association announcing the name of the Under-23 selector, Ashish Sinha in the senior squad of Vijay Hazare Trophy. The One-day competition will commence from September 19.

However, there are some allegations of conflict of interest with regards to the senior team.

Moreover, Pragyan Ojha has got discharged from Indian squad in spite of not being retired from cricket. The selection of Ashish has raised quite many questions.

Interestingly, the 28-year-old Ashish is the son of MLA (Patna Central) Arun Kumar Sinha. He had played one Ranji Trophy match for Jharkhand against Rajasthan in 2010, scoring 16 and 12 in both innings.

However, as per the recent reports and documents with Press Trest of India (PTI), Ashish has been appointed as one of the selectors in June for the U-23 state team trials.

Furthermore, on June 8, 2018, Ashish has performed the duties of a U-23 zonal selector. He was in charge for the districts- Katihar, Araria, Bhagalpur, Kishangunj, Purnea, Banka and Jamui respectively.

So, during a contact with Ashish revealed he will be performing the U-23 selection duties. For now, getting ready to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

However, Ashish said he held the seat as a selector. But now he had left the post. He also said that he has been a selector for a brief period,

But, he didn’t get any appointment letter officially. Ashish claimed that he became a selector on the request of the BCA.

“Yes, I was made the selector. But I have now quit the post. Also, I was a selector for a brief period, and there was no official appointment letter. I became a selector on the request of BCA,” Ashish said.

Meanwhile, it allegations revealed the selection of Ashish Sinha in the senior Bihar state team for Vijay Hazare Trophy, is due to the influence of his father. However, Ashish Sinha denied the statement.
