The 29th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 saw the Chennai Super Kings edge past Sunrisers Hyderabad in a low-scoring clash as MS Dhoni and the four-time champions managed to bag another set of points as they continue to move up the points table.
MS Dhoni won the toss ad invited SRH to have a go with the bat first. The decision worked out in favor of the Super Kings as they managed to restrict SRH to just 134 runs on the board at the loss of 7 wickets in their designated 20 overs. None of the batters apart from Abhishek Sharma was able to cross the 30-run mark with the batter emerging as the top scorer for his team with 34 runs to his name.

Chennai were excellent with their bowling as Ravindra Jadeja who has been stunning with the ball this season once again led the charge picking up 3 wickets to his name while Akash Singh, Maheesh Theekshana, and Matheesha Pathirana finished with a wicket each.
Chasing 135 runs on the board, the Super Kings had a flying start with Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad adding 60 runs for the team in the power play with Devon Conway leading from the front. The duo put together an 87 runs partnership for the 1st wicket to put Chennai ahead and that secured them a 7-wicket win in the end.

No changes to the IPL standings despite the big win for Chennai Super Kings. MS Dhoni and his men have now 8 points from their six games and continue to be placed 3rd behind Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants who also have 8 wickets to their name but boast a better NRR. SRH following their loss against CSK continue to be in the second last position on the points table with 4 points in their 6 games.

Some new changes to the IPL Orange Cap Standings as Devon Conway climbs up to 4th place in the rankings. Faf Du Plessis remains on the top followed by DC skipper David Warner.

Mohammed Siraj continues to be on the top of the IPL Purple Cap standings with 12 wickets to his name followed by Mark Wood, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Rashid Khan all grabbing 11 wickets so far in the tournament. Gujarat Mohammed Shami is closely following the trio in the 5th spot with 10 dismissals to the tally.
