Varun Chakravarthy Privileged To Be Mentored By Rahul Dravid; Posts A Picture With The Legend On Twitter

Kolkata Knight Riders’ spin bowler Varun Chakravarthy had an IPL 2020 campaign to remember as he took the cricketing fraternity by storm with his scintillating performances. Varun Chakravarthy’s magnificent spin-bowling earned him 17 wickets in 13 matches at 20.94 while maintaining an economy rate of 6.85 only. He was also the lone bowler to take a five-wicket haul this year and considers his honour to receive mentorship from Rahul Dravid.

The performances in IPL had Varun Chakravarthy getting the nod for the ongoing tour of Australia as well; however, he could not travel due to a shoulder injury. As a result, it is speculated that he is with Rahul Dravid, who serves as the director of the National Cricket Academy, to recover and complete his rehabilitation process. The 29-year old, who was the go-to bowler for the Kolkata Knight Riders, will want to recover soon to wear the national cap.

Rahul Dravid, who was one of the greatest cricketers produced by India, retired from international cricket in 2012 and got himself involved in the development of youngsters. Dravid has mentored the likes of Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, Prithvi Shaw, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi – all of whom have tasted success at the top-level cricket. He continues to work with the youngsters and helps them prepare for the rigours of international cricket. Varun Chakravarthy took to his official Twitter account, expressing his honour at being mentored by the former Indian captain.
