Ravichandran Ashwin slammed his 5th Test century and first against England, on day 3 of the ongoing second Test in Chennai. His amazing batting and a hardworking 62 from skipper Virat Kohli helped the Indian team post a total of 286 runs on their second innings.
Ravi Ashwin was at the top of his batting game against the likes of Jack Leach, Moeen Ali, and Stuart Broad. He negotiated the turn and bounce that the two English spinners got from the Chepauk dustbowl nicely, given that he knows the ground like the back of his hand. He added a valuable 96 runs for the 7th wicket with Virat Kohli, who played 149 balls for his well-made 62 runs.
After Kohli’s wicket fell, Ashwin was down to farming the strike with the two fast bowlers and did it well, even trusting Mohammed Siraj to handle an entire over of spin from Jack Leach and more than necessary balls from Moeen Ali as well.
Mohammed Siraj’s Enthusiastic Celebrations On Ravichandran Ashwin Reaching His Century
Ravi Ashwin only had the Mohammed Siraj for the company as he needed just over 10 runs for his century and the moment that everyone was waiting for, came when Ashwin edged Moeen Ali’s 5th ball of the 82nd over for a boundary, and the Tamil Nadu lad was ecstatic on reaching the milestone.
This was the third time Ravichandran Ashwin hit a century and took a five-wicket haul in the same Test match.
