Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clashed in the 19th match of the IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in what turned out to be a one-sided game, only because of one person- Ravindra Jadeja. He also got help from none other than MS Dhoni as well.

The left-handed all-rounder was on fire in all three departments in the field as he played a blinder of a knock to take CSK from a decent to a formidable total and all because of an amazing final over of CSK innings. Then he starred with the ball and in the field as well, affecting a run out also.

MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat first, which was the first time since 2017 when a team did that in IPL. Despite a 74-run opening partnership between Ruturaj Gaikwad (33) and Faf du Plessis (50), CSK seemed to be floundering in the middle overs as Suresh Raina (24) and Ambati Rayudu (14) got starts, but couldn’t go on.

But Ravindra Jadeja got into the act and slammed 62* in 28 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes. But his impact came in the 20th over of CSK innings, when he decimated the purple cap holder Harshal Patel, slamming him for 5 maximums and one boundary, picking him apart for 37 runs. This became the joint most expensive over in IPL history.

This helped CSK end on 191/4 in 20 overs and Harshal finished with figures of 3/51.

MS Dhoni Tells Ravindra Jadeja How To Get Glenn Maxwell Out

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started off well with Devdutt Padikkal hitting 34 in 15 balls with 2 sixes and 4 fours, but then Ravindra Jadeja came into the act with the ball as well. He managed to dismiss Washington Sundar for 7 runs and then broke the backbone of RCB batting by dismissing AB de Villiers (4) and Glenn Maxwell (22).

He also ran Dan Christian out to snuff any chances of RCB coming back into the game. However, Maxwell was going to be a threat and he had hit 3 fours in his innings.

Then MS Dhoni came to the fore and asked Jadeja to just bowl without the fear of getting hit. In a video shared by a fan on Twitter, Dhoni can be heard giving Jadeja advice on how to bowl to Maxwell.

“Maarne de, soch ke maar mat khana (Let him hit, don’t be afraid of getting hit),” Dhoni is heard telling Jadeja.

However, Jadeja fired one on Maxwell’s leg-stump and hit the leg pole after Maxwell failed to connect to the ball.
