Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Suryakumar Yadav opened up about his century against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that he’s happy to score runs in front of his family and hilariously added that now no one can say he hit hundreds because her wife wasn’t there.

Suryakumar Yadav was the wrecker-in-chief behind Mumbai Indians‘ 27-run win over Gujarat Titans. He set the stage on fire and made the opposition bowlers dance to his tune. In what was a high-pressure game for the team, he stood tall and showed them the path.

In a game, where every family member of his was watching from the stands, Suryakumar Yadav gave them millions of moments to cheer as he played some stellar strokes that made everyone including the opposition stand and applaud him.

Suryakumar Yadav ended with the knock of unbeaten 103 runs that helped MI post a total of 218 runs on the board. He batted with a strike rate of 210.2 and smashed 11 fours and 6 sixes in his innings.

Suryakumar Yadav said that he was happy to see her wife cheer for her as she missed her three international tons. Speaking to Akash Madhwal in a video posted on IPL’s Twitter handle, he said:

“Good to see my family here and especially my wife Devisha. She missed all three international hundreds of mine. So now no one can say that I scored a hundred because she is not there in the stadium (laughs).”

Suryakumar Yadav further went on point out the importance of his ton. He said that his IPL hundred coming in a crucial game had made him relaxed now and he’d always been excited to bat. He elaborated:

“It was my first IPL hundred and in such a crucial game it helped the team to win. So I am really relaxed now. I play the same shots that I practice in the training sessions and I am always excited to bat.”

After their win over GT, Mumbai Indians now sit third on the points table. They now need at least one win to make their case strong for the playoffs. They will next face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday (16th May).
