Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi had a bit of fun with the crowd while fielding in Pakistan’s final Super 12 stage match against Scotland on November 7, Sunday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

While fielding at deep square leg, the crowd behind Shaheen started chanting the name of Rohit Sharma. Shaheen obliged and enacted the way he dismissed Rohit in Pakistan’s match against India on October 24. Soon after, the crowd chanted the name of the opener, KL Rahul, and Shaheen cheekily showed the way he bowled Rahul through the gate.

Finally, skipper Virat Kohli’s name was brought up following which, Shaheen redid Kohli’s attempted pull against a slower bouncer that took the edge on the way to the keeper. It was a light-hearted moment and one that was thoroughly enjoyed by Shaheen and the crowd.

Shaheen Afridi’s contribution in the first match against India was the decisive factor. Scalping the wickets of the three biggest Indian batsmen helped Pakistan restrict India to just 152. The openers, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, then completed a 10-wicket rout and helped themselves to a fifty each.

That set the tone for the rest of the tournament and Pakistan hasn’t looked back since. They have won all five of their Super 12 games so far and barring a few hiccups against New Zealand, the wins have looked convincing. Pakistan finished on top of the group and will face Australia in the second semifinal on Thursday.
