Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli was dismissed early on in the innings for the second match in a row. He was sent back by Anrich Nortje in the last league match of the IPL 2021 season.
Kohli has looked good in patches during the second leg so far. With the T20 World Cup fast approaching, Team India needs him in good shape. However, it wasn’t to be on Friday night against Delhi Capitals (DC). The 32-year-old was dismissed by Nortje’s express pace in Dubai.
With a competitive target of 165 to chase down, RCB needed a good start from their openers. DC’s primary pacer, Nortje, bowled the first over where he got the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal. He struck once again in the very next over he bowled, this time of the big fish, Kohli.
The South African bowled one at the pads with Kohli looking to bring his wrists into action. He couldn’t get it off the middle of the bat and the ball went high in the air. Kagiso Rabada didn’t have to move much from his position at mid-on and he completed a safe catch.
With the wicket, RCB was in trouble at 6/2. Earlier, a first-wicket stand of 88 set up the perfect platform for DC. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw looked their usual self before the former’s dismissal slowed things down. The final ten overs went for 76 runs for the loss of 5 wickets and took DC to 164/5.
