Ambati Rayudu [72* off 27 balls] was on a rampage during the ongoing encounter against the Mumbai Indians as he smoked his former franchise’s bowling attack including their best bowler in Jasprit Bumrah to all corners of the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
And, it was not only the Mumbai Indians bowlers who came in for hammering, even the refrigerator placed in the five-time champions dug-out wasn’t safe.
Rayudu, in an attempt to smash Jasprit Bumrah for a six, proceeded to even smash the refrigerator glass.
It all happened during the last ball of the 17th over bowled by Jasprit Bumrah when the middle-order batsman got under a wide fullish length delivery by the pacer and thumped it over extra-cover for a six and in the process, the ball proceeded to smash the glass of the refrigerator placed in MI’s dugout.
It was a brilliant inning from Ambati Rayudu during which he ensured that Chennai Super Kings did not lose the momentum after they had lost three wickets within a space of six balls in the middle-overs.
Rayudu started his onslaught by smashing Dhawan Kulkarni for consecutive sixes in the 16th over and he followed that up by doing the same against Bumrah in the following over.
The right-hander smashed Trent Boult for a couple of sixes and a four to bring up a belligerent 20-ball 50 and he ensured that CSK finished on a high as he racked up a four and six off Dhawal Kulkarni on the final two deliveries of the innings to end at a 27-ball 72.
Thanks to Ambati Rayudu, CSK smashed 82 runs in the last five overs to finish with 4/218 in 20.
