The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 final is nearing its end as the Australia Women’s National Cricket Team is nearing the trophy, as they are a few runs away from beating the England Women’s National Cricket Team at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. They have won a record six times, capturing the title in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023.
In the final, Beth Mooney stepped up big for the side as she smacked a half-century off 38 deliveries in the final. The veteran batter, after scoring the fifty, now has five 50-plus scores in knockout matches; she now stands alone at the top of the all-time list, well ahead of Nat Sciver-Brunt, who has three, while Meg Lanning, Laura Wolvaardt, and Tazmin Brits have two each.
Beth Mooney achieves rare milestone
Beth Mooney has also set another remarkable benchmark by registering her third 50-plus score in a Women's T20 World Cup final. No other batter has managed more than one half-century in tournament finals, showcasing her unmatched ability to deliver on the biggest stage. She holds the record for the joint-most 50-plus scores in the history of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
Mooney achieved the milestone, joining hands with England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt, who scored a fifty in the same match during the first innings, and the former did it in a run chase. The latter finished the innings with an unbeaten score of 58 off 53 deliveries, smashing five fours.
Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield put Australia in a strong position
Phoebe Litchfield and Beth Mooney etched their names into Women's T20 World Cup history with a magnificent 100-run partnership for the second wicket in the 2026 final at Lord's. Their stand is now the third-highest partnership in the history of Women's T20 World Cup finals.
Mooney was dismissed for a score of 64 off 49 deliveries by Sophie Ecclestone. The opener smacked 10 fours in the innings. She had put Australia well in control of the game before she departed, as they are just moments away from achieving their 7th T20 World Cup title.
England post a decent total
Coming into the contest after being asked to bat first, the hosts did not get off to the best start, losing Amy Jones in the second over. Danni Wyatt-Hodge followed suit, returning early for only eight runs. For the first time in T20 World Cup history, the latter has scored 300 runs in a single season.
Following that, Alice Capsey and Nat Sciver-Brunt put up a little partnership of 35 runs, with the former playing the aggressor until she was bowled for 23 off 20 balls. Later on, Sciver-Brunt and Freya Kemp combined for 80 runs off 55 deliveries, with the latter scoring 44* off 28. They could only score 150 runs in 20 overs.
While chasing, Australia did not have a good start as Georgia Voll was dismissed early on. Then Liitchfield and Mooney stitched a good partnership and took the game away from England.
