After Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi stitched a 93-run partnership off 50 balls, Kolkata Knight Riders suffered major jolts as SunRisers Hyderabad hit back with quick wickets. Perhaps, Andre Russell’s departure was the most significant one as Kolkata Knight Riders promoted him at number four to double the score. Manish Pandey took a diving catch at long-on off Rashid Khan’s bowling to send Andre Russell back.

The dismissal occurred in the 17th over as Andre Russell had prepared himself to dish out some lusty blows. The Jamaican all-rounder had also got off the mark with a boundary; however, his innings lasted only five balls, making as many runs. Russell hit Rashid Khan’s ball hard down to long-on; however, he could not get enough elevation. Manish Pandey covered a considerable part of the ground to hold on to a low catch.

It was precisely what the SunRisers Hyderabad needed as Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana were threatening to take the game away. Before Russell’s wicket, T Natarajan dismissed Tripathi. The Orange Army got rid of Rana and captain Eoin Morgan in successive deliveries in the next over to pull things back. At the end of 20 overs, The Knight Riders finished with 187-6.
