Kolkata Knight Riders left-handed batter Nitish Rana was on fire in their ongoing clash against the SunRisers Hyderabad as both teams aim to make a solid start in IPL 2021. Nitish Rana, who opened with Shubman Gill, added a half-century stand and went on to hammer a brisk half-century after his partner departed. The southpaw brought up his fifty in the tenth over with a stunning six over the deep backward square region.
It is worth remembering that Nitish Rana had tested positive for COVID-19 before the start of the tournament. The Delhi-born cricketer starting the competition positively is an encouraging sign since he could soon play for India and be in contention for the T20 World Cup this year. Rana had already been in excellent form before the 14th edition of IPL.
He made 183 runs in five matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21 at 36, keeping a strike rate of 164.86. The 27-year old was also the fifth-highest run-getter in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this year, hammering 398 runs in seven games at 66.33, slamming a century and two fifties. Rana also maintained a healthy strike rate of 97.78. At the time of writing this, he was batting at 79 off 51 deliveries as Kolkata Knight Riders promoted Andre Russell at number four after Tripathi’s wicket to double their score. But SunRisers Hyderabad bounced back to remove both Russell, Rana, and captain Eoin Morgan. Rana scored 80 off 56 deliveries.
