Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowler Arshdeep Singh continued his excellent run of form as he bagged three wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday. He finished the innings with a wicket off the last ball, dismissing Dinesh Karthik.

KL Rahul was unsure about the track and how it would play in Dubai. He asked the KKR batsmen to have a go first. Shubman Gill was knocked over quite early but Venkatesh Iyer continued his great run in the IPL 2021 season. He scored another wonderful fifty, his second of the tournament.

His wicket slowed down the pace for the KKR side, as they slipped from 120/2 in the 15th over to 165/7 at the 20 over mark. The final wicket to fall was Karthik, who played a scratchy innings till then. He was put out of his misery by Arshdeep, who ended with figures of 3/32 on the night.

As has been the case for PBKS, Arshdeep was given the responsibility of bowling the 20th over. He showcased his repertoire of yorkers and slower balls, conceding just seven runs off the first five balls. Knowing the traditional shots weren’t working, Karthik attempted the cheeky scoop.

Unfortunately, he move across a little too much and Arshdeep nailed the yorker on the leg stump. Karthik connected with thin air and the ball crashed into the stumps, ending a great comeback from PBKS after it looked dangerous at one moment.

Earlier, Iyer received great support from Rahul Tripathi first and then Nitish Rana. The latter hit a couple of massive sixes, which provided the boost KKR needed in the middle-overs phase. A late fightback from PBKS restricted them to 165/7 in 20 overs.
