England all-rounder Ben Stokes continued with the trend of his team taking brilliant catches in the ongoing Test after he pulled off a one-handed stunner at first slip to dismiss Jasprit Bumrah and bring an end to India’s first innings.
It all happened on the fifth delivery of the 96th over of the Indian innings when James Anderson induced an outside edge off No.11 Jasprit Bumrah’s bat.
The edge, however, was wide of Ben Stokes, who was standing at first slip. However, the English all-rounder proceeded to dive at full-length towards his right to complete a one-handed grab.
The dismissal of Jasprit Bumrah meant off-spin all-rounder Washington Sundar was left stranded on his career-best score of 85.
The duo racked up 80 runs for the 7th wicket and took India’s total past the 300-run-mark.
However, Jack Leach eventually broke the stand by dismissing Ravichandran Ashwin and the wheels proceeded to come off as the home side left their last three wickets for 32 runs. England, on the other hand, have lost four-second innings wickets and their lead has swelled past the 300-run mark.
