The 34-year-old India National Cricket Team batter Cheteshwar Pujara, who is a Test specialist, displayed remarkable power-hitting during the Royal London One-Day Cup 2022 match between Sussex and Warwickshire.
The Group A match of the Royal London One-Day Cup 2022 between Cheteshwar Pujara-led Sussex and Will Rhodes-led Warwickshire was played at the Mitchells and Butlers’ Ground, Birmingham on Friday, August 12.

Warwickshire won the toss in the match and they elected to bat first. Opener Rob Yates smashed a stellar 114 runs for his side and skipper Will Rhodes scored sensational 76 runs. Also, wicketkeeper-batsman Michael Burgess was able to score 58 runs and Warwickshire was able to post a total of 310 runs on the board.
Chasing the target, Sussex opener Ali Orr played a good 81 runs knock. However, his partner Harrison Ward was able to score just 22 runs and No.3 batter Tom Clark scored just 30 runs. After losing the top-order Sussex were in trouble, but Pujara came to the rescue and played an outstanding knock.
Cheteshwar Pujara Smashes 22 Runs In 1 Over, Completes Century off 73 balls
Sussex captain Pujara led from the front and despite not getting any support from the other end he kept fighting and delivered an excellent performance for his side.
During his innings, the veteran India batter Pujara destroyed bowler Liam Norwell in the 45th over of the match by smashing 4,2,4,2,6,4 and registering 22 runs over to race from 66 off 59 to 88 of 65 in the blink of an eye. Pujara displayed his destructive side with the bat when his team needed 70 runs from the last 6 overs to clinch the victory.

Cheteshwar Pujara reached his century landmark off just 73 balls to register the 12th century of his List-A career. However, the 34-year-old, who has an average of 54.56 in List-A cricket, was unable to take his team past the finish line.
Oliver Hannon-Dalby cleaned up Pujara on the first ball of the 49th over and he was able to score 107 runs off 79 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes. Sussex faced a 4-run defeat in the match against Warwickshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup match as they were restricted to 306 runs.
