Devon Conway was the best batsman from the New Zealand side in the first T20I against Bangladesh which was played in Hamilton. He slammed 92* runs in 52 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes. During his knock, Conway hit Mustafizur was an extraordinary reverse scoop shot, which reminded everyone of Rishabh Pant’s shot to Jofra Archer and James Anderson.

Conway’s 92*, Will Young’s 53, Martin Guptill’s 35, and Glenn Philips’ 24* enabled New Zealand to 210/3 in 20 overs, while Nasum Ahmed of Bangladesh was the best bowler with 2/30 in 4 overs.

Bangladesh was nowhere in the chase, finishing at 140/8 in 20 overs with Afif Hossain top-scoring with 45, while Ish Sodhi of New Zealand picking 4/28, while Lockie Ferguson got 2/25 in 4 overs each.

In has been a breakout season for the left-handed batsman Devon Conway reached yet another international half-century although after a debatable umpiring decision in the 15th over. Conway continued on his belligerent hitting even taking on Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman as well.

Devon Conway’s Reverse Scoop Six Reminds Everyone Rishabh Pant’s Audacious Shot

On the 4th ball of the last over bowled by Mustafizur Rahman, Conway received a length ball that was tailing into him. Conway instead of flicking it on the leg side decided to reverse scoop it over the third man instead and the ball went for a boundary.

This shot of Conway reminded everyone of Rishabh Pant who had hit similar-looking shots to James Anderson and Jofra Archer. Pant had scooped James Anderson during the 4th and final Test between India and England at Ahmedabad. If that was not enough, he repeated the shot, this time in a T20I to a much faster bowler in Jofra Archer and the result was the same, a six.

Devon Conway had put his name in the IPL 2021 auction but funnily couldn’t manage to find a team that bid on him. However, it just a matter of time, given that the IPL 2022 will have two new teams and more spots for players who miss out due to squad constraints.
