A furry pitch invader brought the semi-final match of the Women’s All-Ireland T20 league to a halt, as a cute dog took hold of the ball in mid-match and led its owner on a short chase around the 30-yard pitch in what has been termed one of the most hilarious animal incidents on the cricket field.
CSNI CC and Bready Cricket Club were playing a match (reportedly a semi-final match) of the Women’s All-Ireland T20 Cup when a dog managed to make itself the center of attention after getting free from the clutches of its owner/handler.
The score read 47/6 in 8.3 overs, with the batting side needing 27 to win in 21 balls when the dog came running towards the 22-yard pitch which forced the game to stop briefly. The canine carried the ball towards the boundary but changed its path after seeing its owner running towards it and took a short lap before the batswoman at the non-striker’s end managed to lure it with some love.

CSNI CC needed 75 runs to win in 12 overs and during their run chase, a dog ran onto the field and somehow got the hold of the ball and ran around the pitch for a while. It sparked laughter among the players and broadcasters before batter Aoife Fisher at the non-striker’s end managed to get the ball away from the dog.
In the video shared by the Ireland Women’s cricket Twitter account, the dog playfully gave her the ball and waited in her arms for her to throw the ball before a person got hold of its leash.
“Great fielding…by a small furry pitch invader!,” posted Ireland Women’s cricket Twitter account.
