Moeen Ali’s whirlwind assault -58 off 36 balls-has finally come to an end thanks to the champion pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who gave Mumbai Indians a much-needed breakthrough.
With Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis going hammer and tongs against the Mumbai Indians bowling unit, Rohit Sharma brought back Jasprit Bumrah for his 2nd over in the 11th over of the innings.
The move looked like it had backfired as Faf du Plessis took Bumrah to task by smashing him for a couple of sixes and a four past third-man on the first three balls of the over.
But, Bumrah came storming back on the 5th delivery by dismissing Moeen Ali. Bumrah bowled a short-ball at Ali’s body, who, in an attempt to guide the ball past third-man, got cramped for room and ended up giving an easy catch to Quinton de Kock.
Coming into bat following the fall of 1st wicket in the first over of the innings, Moeen launched a stunning onslaught on the Mumbai Indiana attack as he smashed as many as five fours and five sixes en-route to his maiden half-century for CSK.
Bumrah’s dismissal of Moeen Ali has triggered a mini-collapse for CSK as Kieron Pollard has followed with a couple of key wickets in the form of Faf du Plessis (50 off 28 balls) and Suresh Raina within a space of two deliveries.
