SunRisers Hyderabad made a blazing start to their run-chase as they tweaked with their opening pair in the clash against the Mumbai Indians in Chennai. Jonny Bairstow and captain David Warner worked their way through a 67-run stand while in pursuit of 150. But Jonny Bairstow’s sparkling knock of 43 from 22 balls ended in a tame manner as Krunal Pandya took his wicket.

Krunal Pandya, who came for his second over, had to strike as SunRisers Hyderabad were quickly running away with the game. The left-arm spinner produced something out of nowhere as Jonny Bairstow wanted to ramp it fine; however, he stretched his back leg to the extent that he hit the stumps. It gave the defending champions its first breakthrough and helped them put the brakes on the opposition.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians elected to bat first after winning the toss and managed 150 runs on the board. Quinton De Kock, Rohit Sharma, and Kieron Pollard made 40, 32, and 35 to lift their side on a sluggish pitch. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who replaced Jason Holder for the SunRisers, was the pick of the bowlers with 4-0-29-2. Vijay Shankar also took a couple of wickets, while Khaleel Ahmed picked one.
