Watch: Mohammed Shami Cuts A Special Cake From The Indian Fans On His Birthday At The Oval Boundary Ropes

Senior India pacer Mohammed Shami was seen cutting a cake on Day 2 of the ongoing Test against England at The Oval ground as he celebrates his 31st birthday on Friday (September 3). The Indian fans as usual have turned up huge in numbers to support their team. One of them brought a cake for the speedster, which he obliged to cut, but didn’t eat it.

Mohammed Shami, who hadn’t been selected for the game as he was suffering from niggles, skipper Virat Kohli had said at the toss, was born on September 3, 1990, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh.

Also, for anyone wondering about the bio-bubble breach: commentator Harsha Bholge on air said that there is no bubble for players in England, but they all are following the covid-19 protocols, and are being regularly tested. Thankfully, there hasn’t been any covid case among players or staff since the series started; there were a few cases in the Indian camp before the start of the series though.

England take a lead of 99 runs

India have bowled England out for 290 runs in their first innings in the third session of Day 2, after themselves folding for 191 on Day 1. Ollie Pope, returning to England eleven after missing the first three Tests due to an injury, top-scored with 81; Chris Woakes, playing his first Test this year and after taking 4 wickets in the first innings, extended the lead with a fifty.

For India, Umesh Yadav, also playing his first Test this year, was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets in his bag, including that of Joe Root. The hosts now have gained a crucial lead of 99 runs.
