There was a child-like joy on Shakib Al Hasan’s face when the star Bangladesh all-rounder was enjoying himself in the drizzle at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka following the end of Day 2 of the ongoing Test against Pakistan.

Shakib Al Hasan, who returned to Bangladesh’s eleven after missing the first Test due to a hamstring injury, was seen running and diving around on the ground on Sunday. Only 6.2 overs were bowled on Day 2 as rain played spoilsport after an early stumps was taken on Day 1 when 57 overs were bowled.

Commentator Sikandar Bakht uploaded a video in which Shakib Al Hasan is seen running excitedly before he dives forward and slides a long way on the wet covers that are put on the field.

Shakib Al Hasan picked for New Zealand tour despite not wanting to travel

Shakib Al Hasan has been included in Bangladesh’s squad for the two-match Test series in New Zealand starting January 1. However, the all-rounder has “unofficially” informed the BCB that he does not want to be on the tour, says the board president, Nazmul Hassan.

“He hasn’t informed us officially. He told us unofficially. We told him to inform us officially. He has to give a reason. Shakib contributes with either bat or ball. He strengthens the team combination. There’s no substitute for Shakib,” Hassan said.
