Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018: Shivam Mavi Bags Hat-Trick Against Saurashtra

The Under-19 star player, Shivam Mavi is making the rapid strides in the Team India. He was one of the vital cogs for India when they won the ICC U-19 World Cup in New Zealand and later, makes it to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he bagged the hat-trick against Saurashtra in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

The premium fast bowler for Uttar Pradesh took the onus on himself of bowling in the final over of the first innings. He rattled the lower-order of Saurashtra with his accurate bowling in the death overs of the game.

Shivam Mavi finishes with a five-wicket haul including a hat-trick:

Mavi started his hat-trick with the wicket of Chirag Jani followed by the wickets of Arpit Vasavada and Jaydev Unadkat in the back-to-back deliveries.

Initially, he got Chirag Jani, who was caught by Shivam Choudary while trying to slog Mavi.

It was followed by Arpit Vasava, who also tried to send Mavi’s delivery to the stands, but ended up on the wrong side of the things. When it required a wicket for the hat-trick, he rattled through the defence of Jaydev Unadkat.

Coming to the match, it was Uttar Pradesh, who won the toss and asked the opposition to bat first against Saurashtra.

Accepting the task, the openers Robin Uthappa and Sheldon Jackson added a massive 194-run partnership for the first wicket.

Robin Uthappa was dismissed on the verge of a century while Jackson scored 107 to his name. However, none of the batsmen used the liberty created by the openers as they ended up scoring only 303 on the board.
