Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem broke the List-A record on Thursday for best bowling figures with an incredible 8/10 against Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare Trophy

Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem bagged the remarkable record to break the List-A record for best bowling figures with an incredible eight for ten against Rajasthan in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

However, Nadeem destroyed Rahul Sanghvi’s eight for 15 for Delhi against Himachal Pradesh which came in the 1997-98 season.

Keith Boyce (8 for 26) was the first to take an eight-wicket haul in 1971. It was a record created in the early days of limited-overs cricket.

Moreover, Derek Underwood (8 for 31) became the second, in the year 1987. Boyce’s record has been broken in the very next year by Michael Holding (8 for 21).

But Nadeem, who has been on the fringes of selection to the Indian national team for years and has been a regular for the ‘A’ side, matched Sanghvi – and ten others – on the number of wickets, but gave away five runs fewer than Sanghvi’s 15.

The record in ODI cricket remains Chaminda Vaas’ eight for 19, which he got against Zimbabwe in Colombo on 8 December 2001.

Furthermore, at one point in the game against Rajasthan, it looked like Nadeem will pick up all ten wickets. By the end of his eighth over, he had all the eight wickets to have fallen at that stage.
