Virat is an in-your-face kind of captain, Gauti meticulous in planning, says Ravichandran Ashwin

The newly-appointed skipper of Kings XI Punjab, Ravichandran Ashwin, in a recent interview, hopes to take out positives from all the captains played under and implementing in his game.

It was only recently that the Tamil Nadu spinner was elected as the captain of the Mohali-based franchise in IPL. Virender Sehwag and co. went after the Indian international for a whopping bid of INR 7.6 crores.

During the candid interview, Ravi Ashwin enlisted the qualities of each of the skipper played under starting from MS Dhoni to Virat Kohli.

Ashwin mentioned that Virat is an aggressive captain whereas Virender Sehwag is a relaxed character. He also described few qualities of Gautam Gambhir, who is meticulous in his strategies.

“In the IPL, I have played with only one captain in the same team. I’ve obviously played with other captains in the Indian team as well. Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, and Viru Pa himself,” answered Ashwin when asked about the most inspiring captain out of all the captains played under.

“What I’ve tried to abide is taking out the best qualities out of all the captains I’ve played under, trying to learn as much as I can from all of them and understanding my own limitations are and what my challenges would be,” added Ravichandran Ashwin.

“Virat is someone who is a bit of a go-getter, in your face kind of a captain who leads by example. Viru Pa is a very relaxed captain who gives you a lot of freedom and allows you to explore things. Gauti is is someone who is very strategic, planned and meticulous. It would be exciting to see if I put all of it to use,” mentioned the 31-year old.

Ashwin also hoped that their Afghan buy Mujeeb Zadran comes off good in the upcoming edition of the tournament. According to Ash, Zadran carries the much-needed X-factor in the KXIP setup.

“We brought a rookie spinner from Afghanistan, Mujeeb Zardran. I’m really excited to see how he goes. He could well be the X-factor we are looking for. Having said that, he is a young guy and I really look forward to seeing him up close,” elucidate the ace spinner while talking to Virender Sehwag.
