Virat Kohli scored a great century in the 1st Test against England

The Indian skipper played a brilliant knock of 149 in the 1st innings of the opening Test at Birmingham. He was the sole Indian batsman who looked in complete control of proceedings.

However, Virat was the only centurion in the match. Despite getting dropped on a couple of occasions and edging it to the slip cordon quite a few times, Virat Kohli fought resiliently and slowly gained with confidence.

The first part of his innings was all about grit and determination. His 2nd part of the innings was all about playing with the tail-enders and smacking the bowlers all around the park.

Kohli’s innings studded with 22 fours and a six which got him one short of a well deserved 150. Even in the 2nd essay, his half-century kept India in the match for a long time.

The match turned in favour of England when Ben Stokes bagged the wicket of Virat Kohli on the fourth day morning. Hardik Pandya also fought hard. However, the target of 193 proved enough for the hosts to hand them a 31-run victory.
