After a hiccup in the Pink One-day International in Johannesburg, Team India-led by Virat Kohli made a remarkable comeback and registered their maiden series victory in the Rainbow Nation. Visitors thrashed the Proteas by 73 runs in the fifth ODI at St Georges Park in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.

The triumph has also extended India’s lead to 4-1 and helped them to the top the ICC ODI Rankings.

Vice-captain Rohit Sharma who was woefully out of touch throughout the tour smashed his 17th ODI century. Before some exceptional bowling performances by the wrist spinners subsequently saw India managed to register a comprehensive victory.

The skipper in Kohli himself is having a fantastic series with the bat. He had already notched up 429 runs in the series. So far Kohli smashed two hundreds and a half-century.

During the encounter, the Indian skipper was involved in a healthy banter with South African left-arm slow bowler Tabraiz Shamsi.

Earlier in the day, it was Shamsi who had a go at the Indian skipper.

Kohli is an animated character and returned the favour to Shamsi when latter came at the crease to bat.

It must be noted that Shamsi was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) set up where Kohli is also a captain of the franchise.

“Chest pad Shammo (Shamsi), you have a chest pad on,” Kohli chirped as the stump mic did the rest.

It is not clear that whether Shamsi was perturbed by the situation but just after the sledge he ended up giving away his wicket.

The right-handed batsman Shamsi attempted a big shot as Hardik Pandya completed a sensational one-handed catch.

The acrobatic fielder in Pandya almost collided with Shikhar Dhawan.
