Virat Kohli beat MS Dhoni to become the most successful Indian Test captain. Head coach Ravi Shastri had said that this Indian side is the best-ever and Sunil Gavaskar echoes his sentiments. Kohli-led India to the first ever Test series triumph Down Under, he has also captained the side to successive series victories in the World Test Championship before losing against New Zealand.
Gavaskar said that due to the varies pace attack this team has the attack to win in any conditions. He also added that batting wise there were teams in the past which were similar to the Kohli’s side. The cricket legend also added in terms of ability, in terms of skills, in terms of temperament this is the best Indian Test team.
“This team has the attack to win on any surface. It doesn’t need any help in conditions. Irrespective of the conditions, they can win on any surface. Batting-wise there were teams in the 1980s, that were pretty similar. But they didn’t have the bowlers that Virat Kohli has.
“We have got the bowling to take 20 Australian wickets on 1 run less than what India has scored. I believe this team is the best ever Indian test team in terms of balance, in terms of ability, in terms of skills, in terms of temperament. Can’t think of a better Indian Test team,” Gavaskar added.

The pack of Indian fast bowlers will be eager to take on Australia in the pink-ball Test Down Under, insists longest over specialist Cheteshwar Pujara. The unit spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, which consists of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav has emerged formidable. At present, the Indian pace attack, is arguably the finest in the world.
