In the latest release of ESPN 100 Famous Athletes, as many as 11 cricketers found a place on the chart. Among them, the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli, the former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the stylish southpaw Yuvraj Singh are the few to make their name on the chart. Cristiano Ronaldo is at the top.
The selection of the players was done by taking 3 aspects into the count. One is the followers of the certain athlete on social media panel and the second is the count of being Google Trends. And finally, the third one will see the brand value of the athlete.
Virat Kohli placed 7th, MS Dhoni takes 13th place:
The Indian skipper is the only Indian and also the only cricketer in the top 10 list He was accompanied by few of the greatest personalities like Ronaldo, Neymar, Lionel Messi, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
What came as a surprise is that Virat Kohli’s annual endorsements are valued at $20 million, less than Dhoni’s at $28 million and Yuvraj’s at $31 million. However, Mahendra Singh Dhoni stands at 13th spot while Yuvraj Singh is placed on the 18th spot.
MS Dhoni is the second most famous cricketer in the world while Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh are next in the line. Though the duo is out from the national team, they have an incredible fan base over the years and still, they are able to find a place in the fans heart.
The Indian skipper has been a major impact on the Indian team. He made things look easy with his exceptional gameplay and helped India to achieve quite a success in the recent past. He is the most followed cricketer currently, with over a whopping 90 million followers across platforms.
Outside the top 20 global athletes, the other cricketers to find a place are India’s Suresh Raina (22), R Ashwin (42), Rohit Sharma (46), Harbhajan Singh (74) and Shikhar Dhawan (94).
What came as a surprise was Bangladesh’s three players also finds a place in the list. There experienced cricketers Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe Mortaza found a place at 92, 90 and 98 respectively.
