Virat Kohli, India and Royal Challengers Bangalore, has expressed his satisfaction with the fitness level of his team members, adding that ‘everyone is looking in good shape’ ahead of the start of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League.
The 13th edition of the cash-rich IPL will kickstart in the United Arab Emirates from September 19, with the defending champions Mumbai Indians squaring off against the Chennai Super Kings.
Kohli, who is a fitness freak, said that he himself felt really good from the first training session he had after landing in the Emirates.
”From a fitness point of view, everyone is looking great, everyone is in good shape. It’s a matter of feeling good and I think I felt good from the first session onwards. Obviously, there are few things that you try and rectify along the way and once you reach your optimum mindset and you enter the competition you just want to stay in that as much as possible.” Virat Kohli said in a video posted by RCB’s Twitter handle.

‘We moved ahead in a balanced manner’- Virat Kohli
With players coming back into the mix after such a long period of time, Virat Kohli said that the team-management has used a balanced approach by giving them ample breaks in between in order to ensure that they do not end up getting injured.
”We don’t want to push anyone into a niggle or an injury because we understand it’s been a while away from the game. So I think we moved ahead in a balanced manner,” Kohli said. We don’t want to be a maniac like doing six sessions in six days. We gave ample off time to the boys which we will continue to do along the course of the these next few training sessions also,” he added
The Indian captain added that he is very happy with how the team is shaping up.
”The first few days we are just getting our eye in, getting back in the thick of things after five months, it’s a bit different, try and get into the frame of mind which you usually want to be. It takes a bit of time, in these sessions now we are mostly batting in the middle, trying to figure out hitting angles, understanding the pace of the wicket, and all these. I am very very happy with how the team is shaping up,” added Virat Kohli.
RCB will open their 2020 IPL campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 21 in Dubai.
