Indian captain Virat Kohli at the Bull Ring achieved a phenomenal feat which no other India managed until now. The ton machine marched past Rahul Dravid in the tally of most runs by an Indian on an away tour.
With his ongoing knock against South Africa at the Wanderers, Kohli amassed more than 645 runs on the current tour. Previously, Dravid held the record of 645 runs during his tour to West Indies back in 2006.

Next on the list is Virat himself again as he scored 573 runs against Sri Lanka last year at their own den. Mohammad Azharuddin holds the fourth position for the most number of runs on an away tour. Azhar managed to score 544 runs during his tour to England in 1990.
This was not the only record which Virat Kohli managed to break during his knock at Jo’burg. VK becomes the only batsman to exceed the 350 runs mark in a bilateral series in South Africa.
Most runs by an INDIAN captain in an away tour:
647* – VIRAT KOHLI in SA, 2017/18
645 – Rahul Dravid in WI, 2006
573 – Virat Kohli in SL, 2017
544 – Mohammad Azharuddin in ENG, 1990#<!---->S<!---->A<!---->v<!---->I<!---->N<!---->D— Sampath Bandarupalli (@SampathStats) F<!---->e<!---->b<!---->r<!---->u<!---->a<!---->r<!---->y<!----> <!---->1<!---->0<!---->,<!----> <!---->2<!---->0<!---->1<!---->8
Kohli has been in red-hot form during the ongoing South African tour. The skipper started off his campaign with a majestic 153 at Centurion in the 2nd Test match. The chase master pushed the hosts on the backfoot upfront with his knock of 112 at Kingsmead ODI in the series opener.
Under testing circumstances, Virat Kohli followed it up with an unbeaten marathon knock of 160 at Newlands to take India towards victory. India’s run-machine is currently taking his team in a strong position with opener Shikhar Dhawan in the ‘Pink ODI’.

Dhawan plays his 100th ODI game today at the Wanderers and is en route to yet another century. If he manages to achieve this feat, he would become only the ninth player to score a 100 in his 100th ODI.
