It does not matter what the situation is, India skipper Virat Kohli just knows one of playing and that it too be aggressive. It does not matter whether he scores a century, takes a catch, or one of his teammates achieve something, Virat Kohli lets his emotions get the better of him more often than not.

And the same habit has now landed Virat Kohli in troubled water. The 30-year old has received an official warning and one demerit point after being found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third T20I against South Africa, the ICC confirmed on Monday.

Kohli was found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “Inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an International Match.”

Kohli also has one demerit point added to his disciplinary record. This is the third time Kohli has received a demerit point since the introduction of the revised Code in September 2016. He now has three demerit points. He received the other two during the Pretoria Test against South Africa last year and during the World Cup clash against Afghanistan in June this year.

Virat Kohli received the latest demerit point for the incident that occurred in the fifth over of India’s innings. The right-handed batsman made inappropriate contact with bowler Beuran Hendricks while taking a run. Kohli admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson. Consequently, there will be no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Nitin Menon and C K Nandan, third umpire Anil Chaudhary and fourth official Chettihody Shamshuddin levelled the charge.

Meanwhile, South Africa thrashed India by nine wicket to level the three-match series. Batting first, India could only post a modest 134 for 9. In reply, the Proteas rode on their skipper Quinton de Kock‘s unbeaten fifty to chase down the total with more than three overs remaining.
