Virat Kohli might have managed just 21 runs during India’s ongoing run-chase of 375 but during the course of his 21-ball knock, the Indian captain played some delightful strokes.

Kohli smashed two fours and a six during his brief stay at the crease but the best of the lot was an audacious chip towards backward square-leg for a six. Virat should have been dismissed for a 6-ball 1 when he mistimed an attempted pull off the bowling of Pat Cummins, only to see his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate, Adam Zampa shell the catch at deep fine-leg.

Kohli rubbed salt on Cummins wounds by smashing him for a couple of boundaries in the same over before chipping for the audacious flick towards backward square-leg. But just as it looked like Zampa and Australia will live to rue the missed opportunity, Josh Hazlewood ensured that wasn’t the case as Virat Kohli succumbed to yet another short ball.

Kohli, in an attempt to hook the ball in front of square, could not get it past Aaron Finch at short midwicket, who ensured that he did not make the same mistake as Zampa.

Virat’s dismissal opened the floodgates for Australia as Hazlewood knocked over Shreyas Iyer with another bumper before KL Rahul threw his wicket away by driving Adam Zampa away from his body starting to Steve Smith at cover.

At the time of writing, India were reeling at 4-106 in 15 overs.
