Virat Kohli, on Sunday, hit the ground running when he took the field to bat for the first time since India’s heartbreaking exit from the World Cup. Kohli came to the crease very early after Shikhar Dhawan was sent back for just two by Sheldon Cottrell in the ongoing second ODI against West Indies. It was business as usual for the world number one ODI batsman as he looked at ease right from the word go.
Kohli went on to score his 42nd ODI century and ended a five-month-long drought for an ODI century. The hundred was also Virat Kohli’s 8th ODI hundred against West Indies, one of his favourite oppositions in ODI cricket. Virat Kohli needed just 111 balls to get to his hundred. It was Kohli’s first hundred since March 2019 and his 4th of the year.
