Indian captain Virat Kohli underwent a defining South African tour earlier this year where he registered tons at will during the One-day Internationals and Test matches respectively.
It is a matter of norm that Indian cricketers are popular all over the world and the adulations they receive is unparalleled.
While going to dinner with his teammates in South Africa, one of the waiters in the restaurant intend to shake hands with him. Kohli obliged to his request.
As soon as the waiter left, another waiter followed to collect the plates with his hands out, Kohli assumed that he intended to shake his hands as well.
On the contrary, the waiter did not even look at him, leaving Kohli’s teammates in splits.
“These guys went mad. I felt so embarrassed. He didn’t even look at my hand!” Virat Kohli narrated the incident during his interview with Espn.
During the recent interview, Kohli termed life in five-star hotels as ‘royal jails’, where he spends most of his time on the road, due to the gruelling schedule of international cricket.

“I can’t even think of going down to the hotel restaurant to eat. Forget going out of the hotel,” Kohli stated pointing towards the absence of privacy, being an iconic sportsman.
Even during his honeymoon with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, Virat met three Indians in Finland, who asked for pictures with the high profile couple.
“We bumped into three Indians at a coffee shop. What are the odds?” said Virat Kohli.
The newly-wedded couple requested the Indians to not post the pictures on social media, to which they obliged.
