No matter whether he is on the field or off, Virat Kohli has made a habit of hogging the limelight for all the right reasons. On the field, the India skipper has made a habit of shattering records with his exceptional batting and off the field, he has the world at his feet. Well, the fact that another tweet of his has become the golden tweet of the year for the second consecutive year is a testament to his ever-increasing popularity. The tweet which helped him to achieve the feat is none other than the one he shared to announce his wedding with Anushka Sharma.

The tweet is now the most retweeted one in the country, showing the popularity of the batting star. One can get a measure of how popular Kohli is or how much he is followed by the mass from the fact that Anushka Sharma had also posted the same message, but the number of retweets she got was lesser.

The newlyweds had kept the whole wedding process under the wraps and had revealed the news only after getting married on Monday (December 11).

“Today we have promised each other to be bound in love for ever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey,” the couple had posted on their respective Twitter accounts with different pictures.

Meanwhile, the tweet which previously held the title of ‘Golden Tweet of 2017’ was that of Tollywood actor Suriya Sivakumar’s, in which he unveiled the second look of his film, Thaana Serndha Koottam. That tweet has been retweeted a little over 74,000, much less than the 89,000-plus retweets Kohli’s tweet has got so far.

Last year too, Kohli’s tweet had earned the title of ‘Golden Tweet of the Year’. That tweet was also related with Anushka Sharma as the batting star had left a strong message for those who were blaming the Bollywood actress for his failure on the cricket field.

“Shame on people for trolling @AnushkaSharma non-stop. Have some compassion. She has always only given me positivity,” Kohli had tweeted.
