On Monday, a 15-man gang assaulted the Delhi selector, Amit Bhandari. Amit, who was present in the capital city for a trail to pick the players for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy; fell victim to bashing from unidentified men at the venue. Though people who were involved are nowhere to be found, it is believed Bhandari suffered the beating for denying a player’s selection in the team. Since the matter is not clear and the players’ name is not out either, Bhandari is given medical attention at the moment. Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag shed light on the matter saying the culprits should not be left unpunished.

Take stern action against the culprits – Sehwag

The veteran India batsman tweeted,

“The attack on Delhi selector Amit Bhandari for not picking a player is a new low and I am hopeful that stringent action will be taken against the culprit and adequate measures will be taken to avoid such incidents.”

Not only Sehwag but Gambhir also speaks on the matter too

As Amit Bhandari got poorly beaten, Sehwag’s ex partner-in-crime, Gautam Gambhir also spoke on the issue. Gambhir, who recently announced his retirement had asked for a life ban on the player, who triggered such an attack on the domestic selector. GG, who in the past had been vocal about the ongoing topics said,

“Disgusted to see this happen right in the heart of the Capital. This can’t slip under the carpet and I will personally ensure it doesn’t. To begin with I am calling for a life ban from all cricket for the player who orchestrated this attack post his non-selection.”

However, at the venue, two unidentified people/player first interrupted the selector. Later, the three got involved in a heated exchange. It was about time when 13 more people got added and began smashing Amit Bhandari with hockey sticks and even rods.
