IPL 2020 will be ‘extra special’ for everyone since it marks the comeback of former Indian captain MS Dhoni to competitive cricket after a hiatus of 14 months, feels former Indian swashbuckling opening batsman Virender Sehwag.

Dhoni, who announced his retirement from international cricket on Independence Day, last played a competitive game during India’s heartbreaking 2019 World Cup semi-final defeat to New Zealand.

MSD will be spearheading the Chennai Super Kings unit, who kick off their 2020 Indian Premier League campaign against the defending champions, Mumbai Indians at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 19.

“I think this tournament will be extra special for everyone – the players as well as the audience…watching Dhoni back on the pitch is sure to be a delight. There’s so much in store, need I say more?” Virender Sehwag, who will be co-hosting ‘Power Play with Champions’ On Flipkart, was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Sehwag said that cricket forms an integral part of the DNA of Indians and just like him, they have waited with bated breath for its return.

“I’ve spent a lot of my time during the lockdown watching old matches, analyzing them, including my own innings. Cricket forms an important part of our DNA as Indians and we’ve waited with bated breath for it to return” Virender Sehwag said.

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League will be the first time in over six months that the die-hard fans will get to watch their favorite Indian cricketers in action. The last time, Indian cricketers were in action was during the tour of New Zealand in late February. Post that, the ODI series against South Africa and the IPL was postponed due to the proliferation of the virus.

The IPL will get underway on September 19th when MS Dhoni’s CSK locks horns with Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi.
