Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag, who slammed Chennai Super Kings after their loss against SunRisers Hyderabad, has responded as CSK bounced back with a ten-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab. Virender Sehwag has been quite active amid the ongoing IPL 2020, providing his expert views and acknowledging teams’ performances. He was at it again after CSK convincingly beat KXIP in Dubai on Sunday.

After Chennai Super Kings fell seven runs short in pursuit of 164 against SunRisers Hyderabad, Virender Sehwag criticised their cool and calm approach, revealing they turned out to be fools in their own plan. The yellow army’s appraoch was indeed baffling as they failed to have the tempo and the brisk scoring rate while chasing totals above 150 in their defeats to Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals. The same was visible against KXIP, who they beat by ten wickets while in pursuit of 179.

Virender Sehwag hilariously commented that the engine of Shane Watson that has been trying to kickstart since 19th September finally went off. Sehwag labelled his partner Faf Du Plessis as ‘Sambha’, who along with Watson carted the KXIP bowlers all over the ground. Watson and Du Plessis finished unbeaten at 83 and 87; however, it was the former who received the man of the match award.

By the way the thing which has been trying to start since 19th September, that diesel engine Watson finally started. He and ‘Sambha’ Faf du Plessis got together and took took the Punjabi lads for a tour of the stadium, hitting the ball everywhere,” Sehwag said in a video uploaded by him on his Facebook handle.

The 41-year old added that the 18th over of KXIP was arguably the turning point in the favour of CSK when Shardul Thakur dismissed two set batsmen, KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran in successive deliveries. It dented Punjab’s hopes of reaching 190 as two new batsmen on the crease were unable to hit regular boundaries.

18th over me turning point tha jaha Gabbar MS Dhoni ki kaptani, Jaddu ki fielding aur Shardul ki bowling ne momentum hi shift kar diya (18th over was the turning point of the match. MS Dhoni’s captaincy, Ravindra Jadeja’s fielding and Shardul Thakur’s bowling brought back the momentum in CSK’s favour),” Sehwag added.

With that victory, Chennai Super Kings gained two places up to move up to the sixth spot in the points table. They will face Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi on 7th October while Kings XI Punjab, who are at the bottom, will lock horns against SunRisers Hyderabad a day after that.
