India’s legendary Test batsman, VVS Laxman celebrated his 44th birthday along with the India cricketers on Thursday. Fondly called as ‘Very Very Special,’ Laxman was born on November 1, 1974. Meanwhile, Vangipurapu Venkata Sai Laxman was one of the greatest middle order batsmen and had served India for a long time across two formats.

The right-hander from Hyderabad played his first international match against the Proteas on November 1996 in Tests and had made his ODI debut in April 1998 against Zimbabwe. Moreover, VVS Laxman had rescued India on quite a lot of occasions.

Meanwhile, speaking of VVS Laxman reminds his best knock of 281 runs against Australia in a Test in Kolkata. Laxman scored the-then highest individual score by an Indian batsman in a Test match. However, his 281-run knock not only turned out to match saving inning but a match-winning knock after India got a follow-on in the game.

The right-hand batsman turned 44 on Thursday and was seen celebrating with a few of the Indian players. Meanwhile, VVS Laxman’s long-time batting partner, Rahul Dravid got inducted into the ICC’s Hall of Fame on Thursday as well.

However, VVS Laxman had played 134 Test matches for India scoring 8781 runs with the highest score of 281 runs. He also slammed 56 half-centuries along with 17 centuries in red-ball cricket. Laxman also holds a healthy average of 45.97 in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, the 44-year old had celebrated the auspicious occasion along with the Indian team members. It can be seen in the video that MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal along with other teammates were celebrating his birthday and cutting the cake.
